Paranormal Activity 5

Paranormal Activity 5, Movie Review, Film Review, The Flawed GuruI’ve enjoyed the Paranormal Activity series since the beginning, even if it did get off to a bad start in my mind. You see, we were developing a camera based paranormal movie at the same time, and this seemed very similar, which threw us a little bit. Though once seeing it, we realized it was rather different, which meant I was able to just enjoy the movie for what it was.

Since then I’ve really liked the sequels, though number 4 was pretty average, but I was still looking forward to seeing the 5th in the series, The Marked Ones. So with my girlfriend suggesting we watch it, as she had originally seen it in the cinemas, I thought it was about time to see if the 5th was able to improve on the 4th.

Paranormal Activity 5, Movie Review, Film Review, The Flawed GuruWell, I wasn’t scared by this movie even once, and there may have only been one moment near the end that slightly creeped me out, but only for a second. In fact I was pretty bored of this movie most of the way through, and just like the 4th one that created more questions than answers, I was left a little annoyed at two movies now that haven’t exactly driven the overarching story forward.

Yes, they took it in an interesting direction with the last scene with the ‘door’, but really I’m just over it and if they keep trying to drag this series on any longer, I’m just going to give up on it. Reminds me of Saw, which I really enjoyed the first 6, but when they kept making them and dragging out the story, I just threw in the towel.

So this was easily the worst in the series, and hopefully the found footage genre will start losing some heat so that our film can still get some life in 5-10 years time.

6 out of 10 from me!!!
