So, The Dark Knight was next up on my list, as I’m currently making my way through The Dark Knight trilogy. And being the middle of a trilogy means it could either be a place holder between the first and the potentially epic end film, or the best of the series as it built on what came before and didn’t have to tie anything up or set anything up like the others films would have to do.
Well with now all three films out, it’s pretty universally known that The Dark Knight was the latter, as the films are fricken awesome, but this one in particular was the best in the series! Which is saying a lot, as there aren’t many other trilogies out there that are rated as highly as these ones.
This is once again the first time I’ve seen the film after the whole series has come out, and just like with Batman Begins, I liked it even more than ever now knowing the whole series. Sometimes it’s too easy to just look at something as an individual piece, but often when looking at things as part of a puzzle, like I do with the Marvel films, then they can be seen as even better as standalone bits of cinema because of the whole.
Though the film isn’t perfect, and the Joker raises the whole quality up a notch to make up for the flaws, but it’s still a damn good film regardless of its minor issues. The directing was awesome; as was the acting, and though a tad long, I can’t really fault the writing as it had a lot to get through with what is easily one of the most epic superhero scripts ever, which turned into one of the most epic superhero films ever.
9.5 out of 10 from me!!!
