American Sniper

American Sniper, Film, Movie, Review, The Flawed GuruAmerican Sniper had a lot of hype going into it, but that also came with a side of hate, so I didn’t really know what to expect. Also I had to take into consideration that it was directed by Clint Eastwood, who in my eyes, is a hit and miss director. So with a bit of a clouded mess around it, I decided to go in with an open mind and see what it had to offer.

Right off the bat the acting was pretty much on point the whole way through, and that helped ground it, as it often felt like it cut a fine line with the patriotic rhetoric. But when the different sides of the story being told started to shine through, the acting helped make you realize that this film wasn’t as one dimensional as some seem to say it is. Though there was one horrible scene with a bad looking baby prop that just pulled me out of the movie completely.

The directing was solid most of the way through, and the story had its ups and downs, but as a whole I can judge it to be pretty damn good, though as individual parts it sometimes felt a little hokey. So all up I see both sides of the coin of what people think about this film, but my opinion was that it was pretty damn good, and am happy to say that the over the top merica shininess is buffed away to a fine finish with everything else.

8.5 out of 10 from me!!!
