Jupiter Ascending

Jupiter Ascending, Film, Movie, Review, The Flawed GuruI had heard only bad things about Jupiter Ascending before going into it, with everything from Eddie Redmayne giving one of the worst performances ever, to people saying it’s already a contender for worst film of the year.

Now, I’m big fans of the Wachowski’s, but they aren’t free from their share of flaws and cringe worthy moments in their films either. Because of that I went into the film holding my breath a bit, as I kind of half expected to see something that could end up being a bit of a mess of a film.

As I kept waiting for those bad moments to come, I was maybe a bit more critical than I usually would be, but other than a few moments of awkwardness and some naff lines, I really enjoyed this film! Think Star Trek meets Star Wars meets The Matrix meets Game Of Thrones!

I can understand the issues some people might have, as it’s a fairly complicated film when it comes to the plot, and my girlfriend said, who thought the film was just ok, that there were too many last second saves of the characters, with nearly a dozen of them throughout the movie.

Also as for Eddie’s performance, I wonder what people expected, as he’s meant to be tens of thousands of years old with wealth enough to own entire galaxies. How would you like him to play that character!? So yeah, I really liked it!

8.5 out of 10 from me!!!
