Unfinished Business

Unfinished Business, Film, Movie, Review, The Flawed GuruLooking back at it, I remember seeing the trailer for Unfinished Business, but at the same time I remember nothing about it at all, which also makes me doubt if I ever saw it in the first place. Now having seen the film, it turns out I could easily have seen the trailer and not remembered it, as the film itself will likely go the way of many other average films I’ve seen over the years, and just become a distant memory that’s hard to grasp on to.

The film was a bit of a mess, mixed in with some funny moments, and all up it just didn’t work on so many levels. From the tagged on emotional stuff of the overweight kid who’s picked on, and the bully daughter, to the odd casting and even odder story elements and character arch’s, just made for such an up and down ride for the viewer.

There were some good moments for sure, and all up Dave Franco stole the show in many ways with his overly sweet natured though dumb character, but with heavy weight such as Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson, Sienna Miller, Nick Frost, and James Marsden, I really expected more from it. Even the writer has done some pretty decent things in the past, and though this is only the directors fourth film, he made the great French film Starbuck, and it’s almost as good America remake The Delivery Man, also starring Vince Vaughn, so I just can’t figure out how this became so average.

6.5 out of 10 from me!!!
