Wall-E, Film, Movie, Review, The Flawed GuruI’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I love PIXAR! They have yet to make a film I haven’t loved, well I haven’t seen UP yet but I’m bound to love that as well. So when I had the chance to watch Wall-E on sexy Blu-Ray I was excited as I hadn’t seen the film since I first saw it at the cinemas last year.

“This is a tale about a wide-eyed robot who travels to the deepest reaches of outer space in search of a newfound friend. The year is 2700, and planet Earth has long been uninhabitable. For hundreds of years, WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) has been taking out the trash, and collecting precious knick-knacks in order to stave off the boredom of his dreary routine. Little does WALL-E realize that he has recently stumbled onto a secret that could save planet Earth, and once again make the ravaged planet safe for all humankind”.

The film itself isn’t my favourite PIXAR film but its right up there and you can’t help but fall in love with the lead character, Wall-E, and be excited about his journey from earth and through our solar system. Watching the film on Blu-Ray and on a large 60inch screen showed how great the animation style is. Many of the shots when Wall-E was all by himself on earth felt almost photo-realistic and bordered on feeling like a documentary which really gave the film a great style.

The special features on the disc include great ‘behind the scenes’ shots and a great feature length doco on PIXAR as a company and how they formed and became such a great story telling machine.

Having seen Wall-E once again I’m reminded of why I love film making so much and I can’t wait to see UP, PIXAR’s latest film. I hope they continue to pump out one great film a year, which is something they have been doing every year now for 4 years. With Toy Story 3 hitting cinemas next year this will make it 5 years in a row they have put out a brand new movie.

9.5 out of 10 from me.
