Katt Williams really is, in my eyes, an urban foul mouthed life coach and inspirational speaker all rolled into one. Which is a hell of a combo for a stand up comic I can hear you saying, and well yes it is. But it really is what sums up Mr Williams, as behind his constant use of the F word and Mother F word every two seconds, is a real message. That message is ignore the haters, ignore the fake friends and focus 100% on the most important person in your life, you.
If you live a good happy life then you will attract the good people of the world, who are genuinely your friends, and the other good things in life will also inevitably come into your life as well. So when I saw his third stand up, It’s Pimpin Pimpin, I pretty much knew what to expect, having seen his previous two routines on DVD, and was sure it would be more of the same from this pint sized stand up comic.
The first thing that struck me with this stand-up routine was his level of emotion on stage. Not to say he doesn’t normally emote, it’s just that he seemed a lot more angry than usual, especially during the first parts of the routine. This stand-up was out around the time of the Obama election in 2008 and so was very topical of the time, and Mr Williams’ views on the matter were in no way hidden as he openly and honestly let fly his feelings on the political issues of that time.
Even the fact the show itself was filmed in Washington DC I’m sure was a sign of the angle he was going for and raised the level of emotion in his routine. Although, I must say, this wasn’t as good as his second DVD which was easily his best to date so far, but I still really enjoyed this routine.
8 out of 10 from me!!!
