Legend, Film, Movie, Review, The Flawed GuruIt’s funny how time goes by so quickly, isn’t it? Or maybe we just think it passes by with great speed. A great example of this are my thoughts on Tom Hardy, who feels to me like he only does character work these days, and has been an age since I’ve seen him play a straight down the middle kind of performance. Looking at IMDB though, I see that Inception, Tinker Tailor, and This Means War, which came out in 2010, 2011, and 2012 respectively, all had him playing ‘normal’ characters, and thus its odd that it feels like so many more years since I’ve seen him play things straight.

Funnily enough though, in this film Legend, he gets to do both, play a kind of normal straight character, and the more over the top dark and moody character. How is this done? Simply he plays identical twin brothers with similar though at the same time vastly different personalities. Genius really, and after having seen it, it once again shows his genius as an actor. Though I do hold to my view point that I’d like to see more light-hearted films with him acting in, as he’s kind of becoming the Johnny Depp of dark and moody types.

Enough about Tom Hardy, and let’s get to the actual film. This film will kind of stay in my mind, funnily enough, Like Mr Depp’s Black Mass, meaning that the performance outshined the film itself. Not to say Legend wasn’t a good film, as I actually really enjoyed it, but it really was Tom Hardy’s performance that will make it memorable. Opps, I’m back to talking about Tom again. So, to sum up, the film was really good, and worth checking out for sure, but it was heavily weighted onto the good side of the scale because of the lead performance, so see it at the very least just for that.

8.5 out of 10 from me!!!
