Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, Film, Movie, Review, The Flawed GuruWhen the first film, which was a reboot of a series, based off a cartoon, based off a comic, came out in 2014, I was actually excited for it. Ninja Turtles holds a special place in my heart from my childhood, while at the same time not being something I’m overly precious about. Add in a character, take out one, change a colour, change a name, and I don’t really care. So when I finally did sit down to watch it in 2014 I was actually really happy with the film, despite some cheesy moments, but all up I didn’t care about all the hate it got, and I was excited to see where they would take the series in future films.

Then comes 2016 with the inevitable sequel, and that also meant some of the big characters from the cartoon series were being added in, which I thought would be a good evolution of the story and series as a whole. This time around I don’t think I even saw the trailer, so I was pretty much a blank slate, and I was hoping for a another solid, though not spectacular, entry in this reboot of a series, based on a cartoon, based on a comic.

Well, this film was, in my eyes, what I think people worried the first one was going to be. That being just a silly slapstick film that didn’t know what it wanted to be. It felt like all the good things from the first one were stripped out and replaced with fart jokes and cheesy characters, and kind of just destroyed the goodwill the series had created for me. It might not help that we watched the film over a period of 4 nights, but still I think that was an easy decision to make because it just seemed so much more average than I hoped it to be.

5.5 out of 10 from me!!!
